Can I sue the company?

I bought a bag of beef jerky tonight at work and i go to eat the stuff, and it tasted REALLY really bad. i figured it was just the brand and ate a few more pieces. i then told another coworker how bad it tasted and she pointed out that the bag was full of mold! how could i have missed that?! anyways, i'm super super allergic to any type of mold and after eating it i started to wheeze pretty heavily but then it subsided and i started to feel sick. i mean last year i had to completely move out of my apartment because of mold outside after a big rainstorm and suffered a severe asthma attack to boot. My coworkers suggested that i call the company but i dont know if that'll go anywhere or not................what to do?
